hi Guys,

I'm newly back to BMW motors after a string of Audi's. My previous Bm was a 91 520i SE. Lovely motor.

Now i have recently purchased a 92 325i coupe off ebay. This too is a nice motor but with some little niggles.....here goes.....

1, N/S window only goes up or down in 'inch' movements at a time. Would replacing the window regulator/mechansim resolve this?

2, The leather door cards have shrunk :frown Is there any way of having the leather re-fitted etc?

3, since yesterday, the rear end ofthe vehicle has a little 'snake' to it. ESPECIALLY on the ICE! I've noticed that the N/S/R tyre is wearing on the inner edge much quicker than the rest of the tyre. Also, a very harsh 'knock' has appeared like the suspension is hitting directly onto the bottom of the arch/bodywork??

4, Engine seems to pull in 'stages' up until about 4.5k then pulls smoothly after this.

I know this is a lot of question from a newbie, but would reallly appreciate any help/advice as i need my car for work and saturday is my only day off to try and resolve some of the issues i have.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

1) Could be regulator or window alignment
2) There are various companies that specialise in leather re-trimming
3) More than likely rear trailing arm bushes for snaking, Tyre may well have been fitted to front at some point (Ignore if different sizes) Advise 4 wheel alignment check to include camber castor settings. The Knock could be a bad shock absorber or the commonly known bushes that bush that's attached to the top of the rear shock.

4) Advise Diagnostic scan, could be a sensor on the engine or a coil pack on it's way out.

Hope this helps:thumbsup

Cheers for the info!
Is there any diagnostic software that is available for home use on a laptop? I had Vag-com which did my audi's and was a great piece of kit.

I'm going to reomve the rear wheels tomorrow and check around. All the tyres are the same size on my car.

hello and welcome, sounds like you,ve purchased a bag sh..
sorry only joking, all your car needs is a bit of tlc and some patients.
Thank you.

to be honest, i've never seen a 92 3 series with such fantastic bodywork! :thumbsup

Once everything else is sorted it will be a very tidy car.

Just hope can do it all! lol

Carsoft is available, it's like VAG.com but you need a old lap top to get it working usually from what I hear.

While you are checking your rear end out have a good look at the rear springs, they are known to break.

Also check the window regulator is tight, they sometimes come loose, give the window runners a good lube up and then try the window.

cheers, will look out for the carsoft.

THe car has just had full new 30mm lowering springs fitted all round as there was a front spring cracked found during mot. Maybe its not been tightened up properly? Will have a look this afternoon.

Also, will try the window runners and lube it.

THanks for the advice, will post back soon!
