Are there any log term negative effects of twin spark or four-spark spark plugs on the engine of a BMW E30 325i? Or should there be single spark spark-plugs.

There are pros and cons.

The main reason for multi-electrode plugs are that they can last longer, when one electrode wears down slightly, it'll move to the next easiest route.

What they don't do is make 4 sparks, and the same with Spiltfire plugs, they just have one spark to the nearest part of the ground electrode.

The multi electrode ones can infact cause more problems, as you have the other 4 electrodes getting in the way of the expanding flame front.

Overall, multi-electrodes are used by OEM manufacturers to cut down on changes, and sold to the general public who think they might be some sort of a performance increase, but in reality, they trade a small amount of performance for a longer life.
