Few problems with the idle on my 535

It cold starts fine, but runs rough almost sounding like it's not running on all cylinders and the car shakes etc.

Once it's warmed up it goes away replaced with a very slight up/down idle (Barely moves the rev counter but you can hear it)

Also in traffic, you pull away and then stop again, the rev's die off almost to stalling than it rev's up to 1.5k to save itself and back down again and it's fine after that till the nest time you pull off.

As i'm new to BMW's I need a bit of advise, if it was a Honda I'd have it sorted by now.

Do they have a cold idle and a fast idle valve? (What the problem would be on a Honda)

Would air in the coolant cause the up/down idle when warm (Honda's do this)

Have you checked for any signs of air leaks in the vacuum hoses, and slight splits or loose jubilee clips? Check for a leaking inlet manifold as well. As i have figured myself, BMW's do get air leaks, especially give the age of the car, mine is a 1991 and i have replaced a vacuum hose so far in 9 weeks of ownership.
Checking this is your first priority. (costs nothing to check, and little to fix) :thumbsup

There is an idle control valve in your car. I wouldn't say air in the coolant will cause an idle dance, but it would be best to get the car codes read to confirm any faults present.

No mate, not like the honda's mate..............................need to get hold of a scanner or take it to your local Independant BMW specialists.

But if you want to be really cheeky then you could drop down to Kwik Fit.........they are now doing diagnostic scans and some places don't even charge..........get the codes read there, make a note of them and post them up here mate.
