Looking for opinions and views comparing the above models. I'm very tempted by the M135i or M140i, but how far behind is the 125d in real world driving and performance?

Equally how do the 125i and 125d compare?

Also keen to understand what mpg people get from their M135i or M140i?

Thanks
Andy.

I reckon about or just shy of 30mpg on a good day for the 135i and 140i. My brother has an f82 m4 with a stage 1 and he’s averaging about 25mpg on a good day.

If you want best of both world (economy and performance) 125d (224bhp 450nm stock) with a good remap (about 270bhp 550nm), it will make about the same power as a 30d engines

if ya worryoing about mpg then forget the 135/140,,
Not so much worried, but having a 520d now typical average is 43mpg, on a long run 49-50mph. If an M135i or M140i gives say 30-35 and 35-40mpg in comparable situations, I'm not that bothered. If if dives to less than 30 as an average and only 30 on a long run, then yes that would be an issue.

Going by your username, do you have a bmw or a golf? If a beemer, what model do you have, presumably a M135i or M140i, what mpg do you get?

Ah, that's very helpful. Of course I want performance (don't we all ), but I have to keep an eye on costs. I don't do nearly as many miles now, so fuel consumption is less of an issue. What mpg would you get on a typical 50 mile plus motorway run?

.... I do quite like the idea of a remapped 125d though, they look quick in std form, so when remapped they must fly..

What do you drive and what do you get in terms of mpg?

I’ve got an f30 330d, it’s got a stage 1 performance map done by ecotune in Glasgow with 320bhp/650nm. Torques the most important figure as that will determine how quick you can reach your top speed ;) I’m not far of with keeping up with the new Range Rover SVR.

Last week I drove just past 100 miles and I hit the eco pro button and I averaged over 60mpg. Having diesel will be cheaper on road tax than the petrol engines.

Hmm, that's more like it. I am also tempted to go back to a '3', ac330d or 335d. I used to have a 325d e91 and loved it... Now you've got me thinking... I'll be perusing Autotrader later again....

Go for a 335d and map it. Insane torque madness from the 2 turbos!!! You’ll be chasing super cars in a family saloon ;)

I have a m135i 2013 and it’s a great car imo. The fuel is juicy around town but tbf it’s pretty good on long journeys, 3 and a half hours driving and it used half a tank that’s mixed roads e.g motorways mostly and a bit of a/b roads. It’s only £60 to fill from basically empty aswell so you can’t go wrong. Road tax is £22. Insurance is pretty good aswell tbh with the m135i and the m140 it’s smiles per miles mines 341bhp with 515nm of torque this is stage 1 you can get more out of a stage 1 but this is a safe map so the guy who done it said 😁
