1 Series 2009 EGR MAF Fault Code

Hi,

Im hoping someone can help. My 1 series has had an EGR fault code for a while. I had the EGR replaced and the engine management light went off but then came back on. It gave MAF sensor error. Replaced the MAF sensor. Codes wiped and all was ok for a day.

The engine management light went off and then moved to the half yellow engine light in the little screen on the dash instead.
still getting EGR and MAF fault codes.
really don’t know what else it could be.
anyone had this issue and can help shed some light?

What code you getting? Is is 4862 egr to mass air plausibility by any chance?
Also what make parts have been fitted?

Hi,

Code's I am now getting are:
P3043
P042F
P115C

I erased the codes and then got:

P3043
P042F again.

I did before wiping the codes get P2279 but this hasn't returned.

EGR make I can't remember. Ive thrown the box away.
Mass Air Flow Sensor: Intermotor

Car is a Diesel.

Diesel or petrol?

Diesel I guess as a 2009 petrol probably didn't have an egr valve.

Check the vac pipes to the actuator and from this to the egr valve.

Yes mine is a 118D Diesel which is think is the N47 engine..?

Egr valve is electronic on that vintage of engine, only vac is the bypass valve.

I did wonder at what point they swapped over to an electromechanical valve.

Looking at those codes I would be suspecting the inter motor maf is playing up,anything other than bmw/Bosch seems to cause issues.
Also the valve could be causing problems as one of the codes is circuit A stuck.
Ideally What you need to do is get bmw specific software connected as P codes can be misleading.
