I have a 118i petrol and I was wondering what the actual difference is between this and the 120i.
Is it the mapping or the ECU as the engines seem identical as far as CC's go.

Has anyone upped their 118 to a 120 by means of an ugpgrde.

The only difference i can see is about 20bhp. Prob slightly more torque as well.
Looked in auto data, they have the same engine codes, same engine management systems and same capacity :confused

possibly ECU map, injectors

quite often it could be the chassis spec,

example : 118d has 284mm front brakes 120d has 292mm

Rears on 118 aren't vented 120's are - so maybe engine is same.

i remember driving a 323i when younger. That was a 2.5 but with a special spec.
