i recently had a problem with my engine so had to replace it; got the 545i engine instead and it fitted perfectly.

i am aware that the N62 engine on the E53 produces 320bhp and that of the 545 is bumped up t0 333bhp however i havent noticed any difference in the performance.

any ideas why

It is only a small increase in power, approx 5%, and even then, the full 5-ish% might only be at the BHP peak which would be somewhere near 5000-5500rpms.

The good thing is you haven't noticed any loss in power, so it looks like a job well done.

State of tune would be my guess and with over 300, +/- 4% isn't noticeable?
