85mph

Hello everyone, im new too this and have a problem, I have recently bought a 2002 e39 525d Avus edition and for some unknown reason it wont go past 85mph its almost like the cruise control kicks in and stops it. I also think its a little slow but unsure as i am only basing it on my friend 525d...

i have a problem with my car, 1st and 2nd will rev to redline, but 3rd 4th and 5th will not go past 4k revs, and flat out is doin 85mph!! the cat does sound like the baffles inside have gone but thats getting replaced next weekend with a pipe but will be keeping cat, also brothers have said...
