IFH003 and IFH006 errors

I know this is an old thread but hopefully someone may be able to help. I have two cars an e46 316i and an e39 520i, vins AC51303 and BM38096 respectively. I am running Ediabas 7.03 and INPA 5.06. I was able to initialize the VIN on the replacement DSC for the e46 but I am not able to do the LWS alignment in either INPA or Toolset 32. In INPA I don't get the option to do the LWS alignment when I go into the DSC module. In Toolset 32 I get the IFH006 error, command not accepted.
Re the e39 I am using a usb to serial connection to the ADS in the bonnett but I keep getting IFH003 data transmission disturbed.
Could it be that I need some older configuration files?
