Can anyone help with this as i've been trying to sort this for a few days now but no joy.

I have installed DIS v57 and SSS onto a laptop with 64 bit windows 7.

INPA and DIS work perfectly but whenever i go to create a new session on SSS it comes up with the message along the lines of "no communication with diagnostic head".

I set the ip of the OPS1 head to 192.168.61.1 in the administration settings on SSS as per the instructions but no joy.

    I would have thought you'd want 192.168.68.1, not 61.1

Have you remembered to run the diaghead and ifhsrv in the background? And switch off all firewalls and antiviruses.

Yep, both diaghead and ifhsrv running whilst running either DIS or SSS

I haven't disabled any fire walls or antiviruses but as said, DIS works perfectly.

I'm all out of ideas but it only takes two mins to disable firewalls and av's. Just disconnect from Internet to be sure and give it a go. If you've got an aftermarket radio in your e46 SSS won't work it comes up rad error or something. Took me days installing mine only to be shot down with rad error. I'm in the process now of learning to use ncs. Good luck.

The computer was out of range of the wifi so shouldn't be connected to the internet but i'll give disabling the fire wall's and AV's a go.

Original radio installed in the E46 but it does have a bluetooth hands free kit but i can't see that causing a problem.

One thing i will ad is that i have installed INPA, DIS, SSS etc on another older laptop running 32 bit windows XP and both DIS and SSS work fine (all be it slow due to only having 1gig ram) and have managed to change the car key memory setting with SSS.

    Both laptops running Norton AV.

I would like it all to work on the later laptop with windows 7 though.
