    Hi guys !
I've just bought a '52' reg 330ci sport & a 316 ti Se compact for my wife (02) reg this particular car is due for a service & i would like to do it myself but understand you need a special tool to reset the service indicator !...is this true & if so where do i get one ????.......i guess it would be handy to have the tool seeing as now i've got two Beemers to look after *L*
    Any help would be welcomed
    Cheers

these come up on ebay regularly, i've got one and they're easy to use, there are numerous chaiwanese copies that appear aswell, more useful is a fault code reader unit/console as they provide some live data from the engine, most use is a laptop based 'carsoft' type setup - though getting the cables to work can be a right PITA

If they are both E46's then try the following

    - hold down the left instrument button,
    - turn the ignition key to position 1 (radio)
    - test screen appears,
    - keep holding the left instrument button
    - after 10 seconds or so, the word 'reset' will appear with oil service / inspection
    - let go of the button and press & hold again
    - 'reset' will start flashing
    - release & press the left instrument button once more while 'reset' is flashing
