hi, rear levelling suspension warning light randomely appears. The rear of the car has shown no signs of dropping. Also there is a noise from the rear of the car when the engine is switched offthi sounds like a pump/compresser it lasts for approx 10 secs. Also the warning light always dissapears when the engine is switched off then on again Independant bmw garage has done diagnostics and indicate pump failure although this code is being disputed by warranty company

It is almost always compressor failure with these cars. The early ones had a cheap plastic hose on the intake, it fails and let's grit and dirt through into the compressor. The warning comes on when the car fails to reach the prescribed height in a certain time period.

The noise is the compressor coming on to pump up the suspension when you switch off, that is normal.

On what grounds are the warranty company disputing compressor failure?
