    Hi
does anyone know if you leave the obd cable plugged in when not in use
will it effect the running of the car in anyway.
just id like to route the cable through inside the car and leave the usb connector in the glove box to use inside car

I am pretty sure it doesn't matter, but why? Do you not have an OBD in the centre dash? If you are trying to monitor readings on the move, have you considered a bluetooth obd connector and read on your laptop or phone?
By the way, my OBD port was flapping in the breeze on my E38. I couldn't see any way to fix it decently, so moved it to a flat space on the heater cover trim covered by the passenger glovebox when it's shut. Much neater. If anyone is interested I could post a "how" with pictures.
