I'm thinking of buying one of these code readers to give my car a check,
There are loads on fleabay i'm just wondering whether people have any experience with these gadgets and if there are any which are better than others.

I don't want to spend crazy money but would quite like to have my own rather than going to a stealer and getting charged for them switching their magic machine on

    All thoughts gratefully recieved

Whats it exactly you looking for? cause I have a code reader and a reset tool.If you looking for just your own car then probabaly works out cheaper just going to an independant as good kits can cost many £100's I use carsoft FYI

So the £30-£40 ones aren't much cop then?
i only want to do my car but possibly a few mates cars as well, not too fussed about the reset side of things at the mo (although i will be if my car has a list of faults as long as my ****)

I would recommend the peake tool-look them up...........
As I said I use carsoft but its expensive so probably not worth it cause you'll never recover costs of buying it unless you're an enthusiast or charging to read codes........

Well you can buy a generic code reader but I have never seen the point in them myself. Much prefer to have the extra details from the BMW codes, it's enough of a mystery with them!
