With all the playing I have done with INPA and my car, I have started building up a word document using all the screen dumps I have taken from my car over the last few weeks.

My inention is to create something that allows the reader to see where he may be able to get the information and also the details of the status pages on one page as some of the status pages in INPA are spread over multiple pages and there is a need to scroll up and down to see what you are after.

Been at it for 2 days at work and its currently around 30 pages long with very little detail added. Think its going to be a while before I think I will have filled enough details in to be of help.

Will keep you all informed on how it is going.

Well just got about 4 more screen dumps to take and then time to fill in the details as best I can. Currently its sits at around 70 pages long .

I am suprised however how much information is available from INPA with regards all the readings it takes.

It certainly is awesome. One question that popped up was if it was possible to take logs to track faults that only show up on the move. Not seen a way yet.

Asked a similar question and the answer was to run a screen capture program in continuos mode, have not found one yet, tehn review it afterwards.

Could be an interesting project for someone who understands programning and serial communications. Maybe a Uni project.

There is apparently a way of getting the the data stream script to dump the results in a CSV file as well. This will dump the numbers into columns which you can then plot to graphs in excel etc.

Have a look at the link here. This does require a bit of messing round making custom INPA files and translating German.

Is it possible to log data with INPA - The M3cutters - UK BMW M3 Group Forum

    Haven't tried this myself yet.

Yes but that method you can only view one screen at a time and have to flick between them if you want more then one screens sensor readings which I find a complete pain. The CSV/custom method allows you to pick pick whatever sensor readings you want from that particular ECU all at once without having to change to a different screens(You don't actually have to set it up to display on the screen and just to dump into the file). e.g. revs along with rough readings or VANOS etc. Basically it allows you to specify what sensors you want to log side by side. Each to their own though but I'm going to give it a try at some point as I have some experience with programming and IPS (Language INPA definitions use) is a pretty simple high level language.

    Windows media encoder 9

Record what youo do then take the snapshots out of the video when playing it, that way you never miss anything.

Also, a short vid of how to do each operatin is probably worth 1000 words..........
