Hello. I saw this thread and wanted to ask for some help.

Today I received this K+DCAN cable from eBay. Installed INPA + EDIABAS following this tutorial.

When I try any option in INPA i receive this error message: "IFH-0003: DATATRANSMISSION TO INTERFACE DISTURBED". The OBD.ini and EDIABAS.ini files seem OK. Also all COM1 port settings are fine (OBDSetup.exe says OK for all of the values).

One thing I'm concerned that using DCAN utility I can't switch between D-CAN and K-CAN options (got an error "Error: Echo K-line").

Another thing I've noticed that once I press the desired fuction from INPA menu, the red LED inside the adapter turns off immediately. The same happens when applying changes with DCAN utility.

My car is E46 (2000-04) with 16-pin OBD connector under the steering wheel. Is there any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?

P.S. I even tried with both pins 7-8 soldered. But no changes. Maybe the cables faulty? It's weird that both battery and ignition lights are always on (black dots) when connected even I have no key in ignition...

Just a quick question guys if anyone knows the answer.

I'm guessing by soldering the pins 7+8 on the vagcom cable does this get round the problem of having to have a K line cable for older BM's and Dcan for the newer ones ?

Will the soldered vagcom cable work on all age BMWs or will i need to get a switchable K= Dcan cable ????

    Hi,

Where to get the BMW cable so I don't need to do the welding on the other cable?

Also, I don't have a Windows XP/Vista laptop, Windows 7 at least, is that a problem?
