When I get my other laptop to my hands, I will post some screens. What cable are you using? INPA K+DCAN with USB connector?

    All,

I have received about 14 private messages in the last few months alone concerning this guide - unfortunately I cannot answer all questions received due to personal/work commitments, however the guide that I have written is very clear and my only advice is to READ THE GUIDE FULLY AND CAREFULLY, specifically the clarifications/assumptions section as it will make clear any specifics to this process.

    Thanks.

Just to let you know that my car had OBD2 and ADS connection and in that instance ADS takes preference. When i got an adaptor it worked straight away.

    Cheers for the help FX.

Aha, so that was the problem (which also means that you did not completely follow the guide in the first post). ADS connection is needed to have only with the round 20-pin connector under the hood, which took place with older models, just in case that it has a pin no. 15 attached. When there is no pin 15 in the socket, you can use OBD connection not having any trouble. When you use the USB - K+DCAN adaptor, then the ADS connection does not work. It works only with a real hardware COM port or with a device, which has a real hardware address that can be remapped in the driver -> eg. some of the expresscards or PCMCIA cards. One of my friends here in the Czech Republic made an application that makes it work. Maybe sergeantash could put this link for an application and description into the first post so that it will get seen by other people more probably:

Yes i read that but in another post it states that ADS finished in 1996 so i wasnt expecting it to be on a 1999 car with an OBD2 connection. Lesson learned that later cars had both connections and hopefully other people wont have the same problem. ADS cable was only £6 from ebay so its definitely worth having for older cars.

Yes, it is definitely worh the money. Just to say, if you want to switch to ADS, you need to edit all the configuration files, run the installation from its folder (described in ediabas.ini if I remember well) and reboot the PC. All you need is a hardware COM port with the same number as selected in the configuration files.
