Yet again...my learning curve.I have been getting numerous fault codes most of which are now sorted, but been reading them with microscan obd2 scanner. My point.......the code that keeps showing after every drive cycle is P0340 intake cam sensor.so replaced with aftermaket from ecp..still there, replaced again with febi bilstein...still there, replaced again with genuine sytner bmw...still there.Started to think it must be related to something else cause i was getting p1250 bmw specific, decided it was time for a peake research reset tool.Think it may have paid off because no fault code for intake cam but got code 12 exhaust cam sensor.
Perhaps generic code readers only see one sensor, thats me thought.

You need to look deeper, a whole host of problems could cause this one fauld code, this is where individual component testing real time graphing comes in.

you are right ive had a few codes which ive gradually resolved through common failure parts. My obd2 scanner was great for reading live data,it identified my high fuel trims and therefore replacing maf and the presence of air leaks.
Obd2 for live data and peake tool for more accurate codes= pretty good diagnosticing(if thats a word)
