Long story short, as my laptop uses Vista (which won't run INPA) I borrowed a friends old XP laptop and had INPA running really well for ages. Sadly I had to give that laptop back after having it for a week or two. I have now been given another old laptop permanently, so I have installed INPA again, but all I get when I try to talk to my 330i's ECU is the message that says:
"IFH-0009: NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROL UNIT. Program will be stopped!"
I know my INPA software, OBD2 Lead, and USB to Serial convertor are all ok as I was using them last week on the first laptop, also running XP and it was 100% brilliant. On the new laptop I have gone into Windows "Control Panel" and done the usual tricks of setting up the Port by ensuring that "Com1" is selected, and that the "Latency" value is changed from 16 down to 1. However, last time I also ticked "Use FIFO Buffers" as everyone suggests, but this time there is no such option or tick box? I have looked everywhere!
I am half certain that if I crack this FIFO Buffers issue I will be up and running with INPA again. Where am I going wrong? How do I chose the FIFO Buffer option, is it hidden somewhere or related to a MS Service Pack?
The laptop is a HP Pavillion ZE5600, running Windows XP, through a Digitus USB to Serial Convertor, on INPA Version 1.17
