Hi all i am thinking of buying a diagnostics system and wondered what the BMW dealerships use and where you can purchase from?
Also will the system also do key reprogramming ie. Follow me home lights etc and program a new to key so it will work with the car?

BMW dealers use GT1. It's prohibitively expensive. Not sure what the exact cost is now but years ago I can remember people throwing around figures of about £10k.

You can hack a version together yourself (it's an involved process) and then you have to worry about maintaining the voltage during a coding session. Personally, I'd just get a quote from a dealer for what you want done.

If you do wish to have a go yourself have a look at Edibas/Inpa with NCSExpert or Autoenginuity or BMW Scanner first.
