    Hi,

I have a BMW 318D (E46) from 2003 and i'm looking for both cable for diagnostic and to reprogramming (put some more horses to drink). About 3 or 4 moths ago i bought ELM327 but i'm very disappointed because it won't detect the car connection.
I have read on the internet and now i'm confusing about brands and which are compatible with my car. I suppose it have to be with protocols.
Is there anyone who can help me to choose what can i buy to do what i want?
I also have damaged a remote car key and bought a new one last year but i never succeded to work with it. I could reprogramm the open and lock doors but when i turn it on the ignition nothing happens. Acoord what i have read, was something related to the imobilization code that have to be putted on the key chip.
Please if somebody could help on this matters

An INPA lead from ebay will do almost everything possible that can be done, it uses BMWs own protocol.

Yes, but the INPA lead is unable to program remaps or tuned files into the car. It can be used to update and reprogram the complete ECU, but the files it uses for these are a format that is specific to BMW's software, and not the plain binary that is worked with in tuning.
