    Pirated carsoft doesnt tend to work well.
    And the cheap dongles dont always work either!!

    A peak reader is much more useful as it actually works!

    I went through 2 different laptops trying to get carsoft working and it did on one BMW (an E36) but it then didnt talk to an E46.

    How much did you pay for Carsoft?
    Im guessing 0p? and then some cash for the copied dongle/RS232 cable setup?

    £45 for carsoft and the cable/box as a package from ebay, then £4 for the usb/rs232 cable... to be honest, when i bought it i presumed it was a pukka copy of carsoft, turns out its not :( (obviously)...

    naive i was...

    IIRC a legit copy of Carsoft costs thousands...

    To be fair the VW product vagcom is dirt cheap.

    You think Carsoft is expensive Ian. You should see how much the GT1 scanner costs . I would love to have one, but that would mean a 2nd mortgage on my house

    haha, i would have known it wasnt a pukka version of the software had i researched how much carsoft costs, but i assumed :(

    and you know what they say abotu assuming...

    I've now borrowed an old laptop off my boss with an rs232 port to give it a whirl...
