Hi Just got myself carsoft 6.5 diagnostic equipment, the problem is its not resetting the service light . I'm connecting with the car with no problems, apart from it saying some modules not responding. What module is HKL? got an error on it but cant do a individual test on it. want to read the error but carsoft hasn't got it in the list of modules, but it reads it on a full diagnostic. Any help welcome. E36 325ise saloon March 95

HKL = Hydraulic boot lid lift...I don't think your car has that option or does it . Anyway, the reason why some modules don't respond is because you don't have them. As for service reset, it may be that the service bus has hung, so try disconnecting the battery and leave for around 5 minutes for the ECU to drain.

Sorry mate...I couldn't not help it ...now what was the date again ...
Anyway, the ECU drain part was correct...did you or someone else ever try to reset using the 'pin short' method on a previous occassion?

Apology accepted. good one I replied to that as well, feel like a total Fa**y, had to delete my other reply before anyone else seen it.

Yes your right a Friend of a Friend done the last service on it and I asked him to reset the service light, he said "didn't have the tool, but you just short them out to reset them" so i presumed thats what he's done, now your going to tell me its

From what I found out later is that you need to get your ECU reset by a professional diagnostic machine like Autologic or GT1. Whoever fooled with the pin short method before may not have done it correctly so the K-bus is unstable.
