    Hi All,

Just in the process of setting up the DIS software and SSS to read/clear codes on my E46. Got the cable and software from BMW cables on ebay. It is a lengthy setup procedure and i seem to be struggling to make DIS communicate with the Diaghead

I have done the ping test which works and Diaghead happily runs as it should. When i try to connect it in DIS i get the following error message. I noticed too that there seems to be no network mask associated with it (does this make a difference?) see pic 2

Any help/advice would be much appreciated,

    Andy.

    Have you got INPA working?
Have you got the IP address and port done in ediabas.ini and ifhsvr32.exe running?

Yes INPA works fine and allows me to look at live data e.t.c. (i acccidentally reset adaptations too whilst the engine running which i have read is a stupid thing to do but after a short drive nothing to report)

IP address and port have been set up on the ediabas file and i have had diaghead running and ifhsvr32.exe

Then i get that error in INPA

About a year ago the engine in my car set on fire (316i) and was replaced with an engine from a 318i (which i believe is identical minus the inlet mani). I never changed the manifold to my original one since the new one ran fine however i have noticed more recently there seems to be some power loss. Had a play about with the MAF which seemed to improve it but when i read previous error codes using INPA camshaft sensor came up. I have reset all codes and adaptations and will see if it comes up again.

Would a remap to the 318i engine make the car run smoother?

The reason i need DIS is to reset airbag and service lights

You may be able to reprogram the ECU to 318i spec with WinKFP or with DIS v44 if you can find it.

Read from post 478 onwards here-
Settings in GT1/DIS to use the INPA Interface ? - Page 20 - Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum

That's the same problem that you have.
