I recently purchased a Carsoft Ultimate Version 10 Software System direct from Carsoft in Belgium, for 396 Euro. Having spent this relatively large sum of money, I expected the system to be easy to install and operate.

I was wrong! The user manual is not very good. It doesn't say much about how to configure and use the system. I am left to prod and poke, trying to understand the terminology.

Only a small part of the system appears to work. I can scan the DDE for errors, save them to a file and then delete them. Ditto for the auto gearbox and radio. I can read a small amount of data from the DDE and auto gearbox during live tests. The software seems to think my engine has only four cylinders!! Little else works! I can't communicate with any other modules in the car (the car itself runs fine).

I'm using a Dell laptop running XP. It has a serial port (COM1). All firewalls and anti-virus software are switched off.

I've repeatedly phoned Carsoft for technical support. Each time they make an excuse like "we're very busy at the moment" and "someone will ring you back". Nobody has ever phoned me back!

Anyone got any ideas for me to try?
