Yes it will work fine but that software is available online so imo its an expensive lead?

These leads will do the same job at a fraction of the cost and if you'd prefer using the serial port they are more expensive than USB

INPA will work ok with unmodded lead, SSS/DIS/GT1 I believe needs modifying by shorting pins 7&8, I say believe as I know a modded cable will work
with SS/DIS/GT1 but do not know if an unmodded cable will work, easy mod anyway

It is interesting that you mention Vag-Com.

My previous car was a Golf 1.9l TDI and I have a Vag-Com cable and software for my laptop for the Golf.
Which Vag-Com do you have? I have the hex-can USB cable. Will it work with the 525D? Where do I get the software for it if it is useable. I know I can't use the original VW VAG-Com software. Or at least I believe that I cannot.

Can someone shed some light on this? I am new to the BMW community after having been a diehard VW nut for years.

    regards,
    ericowen
