no it was not Genuine. never knew, Bought it off Ebay, arrived faulty, opened a Dispute. and Paypal are refunding money, due to it not being Genuine,

i used a Snap on diagnosis to read faults, i did notice voltage dropped off quite quickly. went to 11.7v after a few mins, but i am none the wiser

sounds like the battery voltage has dipped down too low and everything has thrown a wobbly.

No i can rule that out, voltage and alternator checked fine.
But i can Reveal that now i have done further Testing, i have no steering adjustment, wipers not working, Adaptive cruise not working and so on, volume for radio, as there seems to be no power getting to the Steering wheel what so ever. as for fuses i think i have checked the relevent ones. and all seems fine.

removed cowling to gain access to wires but have no idea what is the live colours to check power, anyone have wiring diagram?

Fully fixed now thanks to Whitley Garage bedford and a £811 bill.
Turned out to be the fibre optic Modul behind the fuse box, ouch.

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems. I have the same issue with my 5 series. Was yours diagnosed as a 'gateway module' failure? Have you had any isses since the repair? My BMW dealership have advised me that replacing and reprogramming (£1200) could cause knock on issues with the electronics.
