Well as stated in my other thread I am getting pi**ed off at my emissions deterioration light returning in-frequently, and rather than taking the car back in for its THIRD diagnostic session I figured it might be easier to buy something.

From reading threads people have had success running INPA on a laptop and using a USB to OBD2 lead.

Is this the sort of thing I should be looking at? Clicky

I don't fancy messing around with shorting pins on a vag com lead so will this work?

    Thanks

I think Daily Doggy was on about providing a laptop with INPA on it ready to go for around £100....Maybe drop him a line and see if he can do it for you

I have no issues getting INPA, I just need to know if that lead is the correct one, if so it comes with a copy of INPA

Those prices are a fooking joke with hooky software and a Vagcom lead that costs a fiver.

So am I better off buying a Vagcom lead: Clicky

And performing the pin 7/8 short?

I am in the process of installing INPA.

Worth trying without the pin short first

Morning all, my lead arrived this morning so I thought I would give it a go. Bearing in mind I have done nothing to short the two wires yet.

Is there something wrong in the settings? Or does this mean I need to short pins 7/8?

Are the two on the right pins 1/2 or 7/8?

I took the hit and soldered the two together, and it works.. although I managed to burn two of my fingers which is making typing a little hard.

    So I read the errors:

Cleared them and let the engine run for a bit, then rescanned for errors:
