I'm looking for the most reliable and convenient tool/reader

Just about convinced to buy a Peake R5/FCX-3 reader, as seems' to be the most convenient/reliable, reader available to the home mechanic?

Just before i purchase could people with experience of the above tool, and other diagnostic software plese give some feedback.

I have laptops with serial ports if people believe a laptop with appropriate software and cable is a better way to go???

    Look foreward to the feedback..

I have that particular model and it is very good compared to the generic readers. You could also go the Carsoft way as well since you have a laptop with serial connection.

I was chatting with the guy who does my MOT's and mentioned buying a code reader and he recomended this for the home user -

    Sealey VS8700 EOBD Code reader.
    http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/EOBD-Code-Reader-Sealey

He even let me loan one he had laying about for a few days.

It is very easy to use and informs you of what the codes mean not just the code then look up in a book....

IBS - inteligent battery sensor - detects power consumption from battery and only puts the car into sleep mode when consumption is low enough.
