    Hi,

I've been trying to access the on board diagnostics for my 325ti i have got the following setup:

    car:
    2002 e46 325ti compact

    hardware:
    prolific usb to rs232 convertor
    "bmw compatible scanner v1.3.6"

    software:
BMWScan136 running on win7 in compatability mode xp sp3

when trying to scan the units in the software i get a error message of "hardware not ready. try again?" I got this error in every setting i tried e.g. having the ignition on/off etc

I've tried the good ol google and this turns up a load of other people having the same problem.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Not something I am familiar with(BMWScan136) I am afraid, people here tend to use Carsoft more and have it working no problems.

Hopefully somebody with BMWScan136 that they have working can chime in.
