The PC option is the cheapest and by far and away the best as you get all the diagnostic tools. A simple code reader just provides generic engine codes.

    These kits are fine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Diagno...item1c1f18ae12

INPA is the easiest to install and works on you car, you need to twiddle with some system variables but installs reasonably well. DIS is harder as it requires a virtual machine setup

generic handhelds wont work on a 2002 diesel..

cheapest option is INPA and a laptop...

if ya moderately computer savvy its rather simplistic..

    http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...etting-t85220/

ask "Xmak" ben he'd never seen or played wiv INPA till i give him my old INPA lappy now he's flying on it with his diesel beemer...

all you need is the second setup with the £17 interfaces and an old laptop with a serial port...
330i sport a big chunk of berlin...

or if you haven't got a lappy with serial port a £10 USB VAG-COM lead and different version of INPA works fine too.
