    hey 2 days ago engine light came on on the compact not the eml light the other one plugged in peake tool came up with fault code 271d oxygen sensor heater before cat reset the codes but same fault has come back

    what part is it i need to replace ? i am doing the front wishbones tomorrow so may aswell fix this before it goes in for its new clutch

    What table are you looking at? 271d is under table 23 and says VANOS control outlet bank 2

    when i insert the tool in the car with ignition on the peak tool comes up fc i press go it comes up 21 then it comes up c witch means 4 digit code then comes up with 271d

    tabels 21 and 23 both have this fault code

    Ok, looking at table 21. It means the heating element inside the pre-cat lambda sensor has failed. You need a new sensor and I'm guessing your mpg must be cr*p at the moment.

    awwww crap this is what i was worried about just happend yesterday so havent noticed but need my fuel econimy to be perfect as i have a budget of 40 squids a week i put in the car to get to work and its already stretched to its limit do you have any idea the part no of the part i am after where abouts is it and what tools do you think i will need just a normal oxygen sensor socket?

    bloody hell 90 squids from euro car parts bang goes getting my clutch fitted that will have to wait for another month

    Well, it's £160 from the dealer . Also, you have to watch out for sensors from ECP because they usually sell 3 wire sensors missing the extra one for heater control.

    There is a few choices on Ecp why do they have one for half the price that fits from or rear but says requires extra fitting here is the link

    Any help would be gr8 don't want to be paying 90 notes if there is one there for 50 that requires a little extra work

    i have the same car but 2003 with exactly the same error just engine light randomly came on.

    how did you fix it? please help!!!
