I know there are a load of questions on this, still can't find the exact answer.... So,

I am seriously thinking of getting one of these tools, I know my way round cars, motors, electrical etc, I fix aircraft for a living.

I've got a BMW cd manual on the way.

What I'd like to know, simply, does this tool, pin a code to an actual component...

I've got a fuel problem on my 330d, I'm fairly sure its fuel pressure related.

    Would an example code be...

'SO12 fuel pressure' .... (random example) leaving me to test all the components in the system to find the faulty one.

    or will it be

'SO12 fuel pressure, check fuel pressure regulator pn22' (random example)? thereby narrowing it down to a component level?

    Replies gratefully recieved,

    Thanks.

Have a read of the look up tables for the fault codes and decide for yourself OP .

Btw Steve D, this is the North America version and not the Euro spec like mine, if you are thinking about printing it

Thanks for that, looks like, from that wealth of info, that its quite in depth rather than a random 'fuel pressure' code!

    Thanks again

    i bought a peqke research fault code /reset tool -spec R5/FCX-3-16,cost about £115 .

can use it on bmw cars from 2001-2007

Great tool and easy to use, comes with manual as well.

very good investment,i have 2 bmw's -so it should pay for itself once i use it once on both cars.
