Have you got the round pin connector under the bonnet? Is that the one you are using? Cause AFAIK you don't need to use the pin short method to reset the service on your car you can do it on the dash......

Round plug would be under the bonnet and on some models is in addition to the OBDII under the dash....

i thort i would give it one last go in trying to understand what the heck i need to do.....as i have said earlier using the r5/fcx tool which get e a06 10 apparently this is an error code....i need to rectify this but how? without going to a garrage is there any way to clear the fault so i can use my tool? i have read that my system may be hung so thats why they are not communicating....would i be able to run a program on my laptop and appropriate lead to clear this? i have also read there is a program called DIS which is downloadable from the .com version of this forum.....i dont like accepting defeat so easily so surely someone out there may have the answers othawise thing the tool may be going back as a dud!!!

PS......ifrom what i can see i dont have the round connection under the bonnet as i have checked 3 or 4 times...i am using the port under the facia on the drivers side....i tried the battery disconnect yesterday for an hour and that didnt work either...all i got from that event was a flat battery so guess that must be on its way out too......hmmmm would that contribute to my problem???

Searching for "BMW DIS" in google will bring up several links to get the DIS Software, but there is also a seller on Ebay that you can buy the software from (and he also sells some readers too).

I'm far from a pro, but I would see if the DIS Software works for you, especially if you can get it for nowt mate.

Without the round connector under the bonnet this car could not have been subjected to a pin-shorting method that has locked the diagnostic bus.
