    my car is a dec 2001 e46 318i4 cylinder 2litre petrol car.
it has the 16pin obd2 daignostic socket near the steering wheel under the dash.
there is no 20 in round diagnostic connector in the engine comaprtment

i keep getting an E10 error code when i try to read the fault codes usin a peake R5-FX3-16 pin reader.

I tried all the methods described on page 54 of the trouble shooting guide including doing a full power resetting on all modules after disconnecting the battery-with no joy

    my questions are

can anyone verify if this tool works on e46 4 cylinder cars? -( i know that it works perfectly on the my e39 6 cylinder diesel and on a friends e46 6 cylinder 330i petrol car).

secondly,i have an amp in the boot of the car wired to the battery for power and the subwoofer is wired into the wires of one of the standard rear shelf speaker-does anyone know if this is causing the peake tool to throw up the e10 error code and hence not be able to talk to the car diagnostics?

i have tried using a cheap chinese fault code generic reader which reads the codes without a problem.

    anyone?
