    Hi

I recently had a problem/problems with the transmission on my 2001 728i Sport.
After spending a large amount of money having the box rebuilt the car is now ok.
My question is that when I had the fault codes read - by several different systems i.e Winstar, Launch, Carsoft and GT1 at my local BMW Dealership they all came back with a code that read 38 EGS Symptom GLUE and 39 EGS GLUE monitoring 2/3 (P0733)
Neither the company that rebuilt the gearbox not the BMW Dealer knows what 'GLUE' means so can someone on the forum put the experts to shame and come up with an answer?

    Best regards

    Paul

Not sure on the BMW specfic code. However, was able to find this:

    SAE Code P0733
    DTC Code 17117
    Description Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio

I looked the code up here: http://www.my330i.com/odb2.php

    Hi Ian

Thanks for the reply and info, luckily my tranny is now ok.
I have my own idea of what GLUE stands for :-
    Got Lots of Unforseen Expense

    Cheers for that

    Regards

    Paul

I am new to the forum, so I'm not really sure how these things work.

I have recently got a 728i (2000 reg). There is a connection for a phone, but I was wondering has anyone found an adaptor for a nokia phone that will allow the mobile to integrate with the car phone system?

    thanks,
    Joe

I recently figuerd out why my tranny gave the error code 38 symptom glue... my car e38 730d 2001, 5hp24, a5s440z... i put it in reverse and a fraction of a second will go in the back then... no reverse... when it was cold will go ok in reverse as the water temperature rises the reverse had gone away... my tranny rebuild with a lot of cost, but still no reverse... tranny out and i found the 2 ''o'' rings at the ''c'' clutch melted... aproximately 3 euro cost... for the ones you want to see those ''o''- rings, mail me and i will try to help you... i hope i can help a lot of people to keep the money in the pocket... (btw my tranny cost was 1200 euros but still no reverse ) best regards and sorry for my enghlish... im from romania

I think "Glue" could be bad translation of "stuck". Sometimes you get this if the oil is old or the boost valve is knackered.
