    Looked an better looked m8 even removed under dash plastics defo no connectors, stumped now!

    Defo OBD1 according to BMW, and been advised to go for Carsoft that plugs into my pc, only prob is you ne Windows XP and i am on Vista.

    The Peake looks good and price too, then saw the even cheaper option of using my lap top but like i said i need XP for that.
    So will prob end up buying the Peake after all (i would never hang myself!)

    I prefer Neal's explanation of OBD2 with BMW's proprietary connector. Carsoft also works with Vista...

    I'd still follow Neal's recommendation of going for a Peake code reader, much easier and saves you dragging the laptop out to the car, booting it up, then fiddling with USB to serial converters etc.
