    Thanks for clarifying that NealP. Mines a 20 pin oct 99.So mines OBD1 still?? Or is it OBD2 as its post 95?? Soz if im sounding a bit thick today!! lol pmsl

    BMW have a proprietary connector, but I believe they went to the standardised version in 2001 and stopped fitting the engine bay one.

    Well, it's an OBD1 connector with OBD2 connectivity...get what I mean? You will also have the 16pin OBD2 under your dash, but with limited connectivity.

    Hey that looks spot on! cant find any plug on the inside of car though

    There will be a flap under the driver's dash. It will probably have OBDII written on it...my 99 E46 323i had this as well as the 20pin one
