Hi, I got carsoft 6.5 to try and find the fault with my intermittent ABS+ASC and got these codes a a result

49: Wheel sensor, Rear left or outlet valve front right

    17: Front Left wheel sensor

148: CAN ERROR engine speed (RPM)

Sometimes when i start the car the ABS lights come on immediately after starting the engine before it's even in gear which makes me think it's not the wheel sensors, (or would these throw up a fault anyway?)

if it is error 49 and 17 are parts that can be changed but error 148 is what concerns me, CAN error. If this is broken how would you go about fixing it?

does this many errors on one system normally indicate that the ABS+ASC module itself is broken?

I'm completely new to car diagnostics, had to dig out an old Win95 laptop just for it's serial port!

    Thanks everyone!

It sends the wheels speed signal, via CAN to everything else.

Clear the codes, drive the car, and see what turns up, old codes can remain forever if not cleared.
