Was driving the car last Tuesday, and the EML came on, got the codes read the same afternoon, and it showed the 171 fault.

    The car was driving fine.

Got the code cleared, and it lasted a week, the light came on again last night.
    Car still driving fine.

Having done a search, it is mixture too lean, and solutions range from a service to clean maf to new maf to split hoses.

Just wondered if anyone had any other ideas as to what might throw up the fault but not cause the car to perform differently ?

    thanks

    Thanks for moving the thread!

Any usual hoses to look at or is needle in a haystack job?

Went out at 10am yesterday and started the car to go to work and the light went off. Stayed off all the way to work, but came on again 2 minutes from the house on my way home.

    Strange one ?

    Right,

Have found a hose that has the starting of a split in it, it's the crankcase ventilation hose.

Due to it's location, at the back of the engine and under the scuttle pan, just wondered if anyone had changed theirs and could give advice on what can be removed to gain better access?

    Thanks

I have wrapped the pipe in gaffer tape, and the EML has gone out.

Alos bought a replacement pipe set (crankcase breather), but went to try to fit it today and I am at a complete loss as to how to get good access to all four ends to fit it.

Is there a way to remove the black plastic on the top of the engine ?
