I have ordered a obd2 scanner to clear my engine light. but after ordering and reading somewhere i am confused as to if my car is obd or obd2. My light is on because it needs air mass meter replacing but i also need reset light after.

I read UK cars after 2001 are obc2 and that becasue mine is 2000 model it will not be compatible. Although i know bmw connected my car up to the scanner via the rectangular connector under steering which i thought was obc2?

    advice please?
    cheers
    Andy

The light won't need to be reset, it will sort itself out after a while with the new MAF on.
You are right about it not being compatible.

Try it, i have a feeling some were allowed OBD2 and others weren't until the 2001 date when they all had to have it by law.

BMW use the same plug, but their scanners work on a different system which can do everything.
