    Hey folks,

I've managed to install a copy of INPA on my laptop and sourced a cable via ebay so I could read the fault codes from the ECU as I currently have an ABS and ASC warning light on the dash. I suspect its an ABS sensor thats causing the problem as it did go away for a period before coming back again but I would like to pin-point which one before I invest more time/money.

Rather annoyingly I have been able to interface with the ECU to check for engine faults as well as the airbag but none of the preconfigured scripts for the ABS/ASC system seem to connect/work. I usually end up with "IFH-0009 No Response From Control Unit" or "SYS-0005 Object File Not Found".

    Any ideas?

I've also had "IFH-0006 Command Not Accepted" errors too.

I'm not sure if it is relevant but the Ignition is not detected on the home page of the INPA software despite it being on. I've read something about shorting 2 pins together on the cable but I'm reluctant to do this unless someone can confirm??

Are you using a VAG com lead?
You will need to sort out the ignition on signal first.

Your ABS/ASC module is not OBD2 compliant.

No idea, I purchased this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...E:L:OU:GB:1123 and I'm using the 20 pin connector under bonnet socket. Laptop has a COM port on it too so no need to use a USB to COM cable.

Looks like a decent enough lead.
Possibly the more expensive ADS lead would work better.
    Can you diagnose anything?

What modules do you have access to? HVAC but not cluster?

Yeah, I am able to read fault codes from the engine & Airbag systems but thats all so far. I have tried all the scripts available under the "chassis" section but I'm just getting 1 of the 3 error messages I posted earlier. Frustrating stuff as I bought the cable to assist with diagnosing the ABS/ASC system!

I've also had a read through the INPA troubleshooting guide which Ian posted in another thread. Unfortunately nothing in there has helped.

    Can you access the cluster?
