Hi all. I have a 1998 BMW 316i Compact, e36 engine and 1.6L engine size. I bought a diagnostic machine from Amazon but when I went to the car, I cannot find the OBD port that is supposed to be in the car, under the dash and just above the pedals positions. The car peformance is sluggish, and it makes loads of noise but notake off speed/ power. I bought it recently with an aftermarket, peformance filter installed. There is no airbox, just a compact filter with foam material round it. Any help in this matter appreciated. Thanks.

It won't have the OBD port you are looking for. Just the BMW diag port. You will need a BMW specific scanner.
