Oh, sanity check here .. I have tried all positions on the key (mostly 2nd click), but what is the position that it should work on?

Theres off, 1st click (shows the clock, etc), 2nd click (ignition on), and running

    Which one?

Second click, the run position is needed.

Set it up as OBD, and there should also be some changes in some .ini files to make too

Bit surprised you didn't go for the Vagcom lead.

Only ini file that will need changing would be the obd.ini. For that lead I'm not even sure if there's any tweaking required?

    RESULT!!!!!!!

After all this time I cant believe it!!! .. The INPA/EDIABAS interface worked!!!

I read some codes, reset the airbag light, reset the engine misfiring errors (so will check again in a few days, changed the plugs today anyway!), reset the instrument cluster and light check module errors, had a quick look around ..

In the end it was software .. the INPA/EDIABAS software shipped with the cable linked to above does not work. I downloaded and installed some 'other downloaded software' and that works GREAT!

Mucho thanks to the guys that helped me out .. you know who you are! .. now I can fix the misfiring issue and start working on my odometer problem .. basically it reads 999999 .. butbnthats for tomorrow. 11:46pm .. time to get to bed .. ;o)
