    AFAIK no E36's were ever full OBD2 compliant...

    a standard OBD2 serial inpa interface and 20 pin adaptor and inpa set in ADS mode will get you into the engine DME and some of the other important modules but not all of em...but its better than nowt and 9 times out of 10 its the engine DME ya interested in anyway...

    trouble is modern machines dont have serial interfaces so ya up against it..


    ive got a couple of serial interface laptops loaded with inpa and both type interfaces,car chargers,mains chargers the lot tested and working, im gonna flog em on ebay shortly...
    330i sport a big chunk of berlin...

    Well had a go but couldn't connect because of a driver missing
