Hi, sorry for not naming the thread properly. I will try again.
I been looking throught the threads and constantly see some people sayin some softwares let you read live data and some dont.
What sofware will allow me to read live data through the diagnostic port on an E36 325i (OBD1)?
I found this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...id=p2761.l1259) on ebay which isnt that far from where I live but had no reply from the shop yet. Would this let me read live data such as O2 readings from my engine as it's running?

Just got the kit sorted, going to go and see how it works.
But a bit unsure about what reading do I need to look at to see what the Lambda sensor is reading? Anyone who used CarSoft 6.5?

I really cannot remember if I was able to retrieve live data from an OBD1 car. I suspect probably not.

Again, I also stopped using Carsoft a while ago. From memory try clicking on special functions, and then select live data.

Before I got anywhere, I got a "Faulty Cable" error
Im having to use a USB to com convertor because the silly laptop doesnt have one and the PCMCIA doesnt look too promising either as I have an Express Card instead
Any suggestions? Or have I done something wrong?
Is there a certain sequence that I have to connect everything up?

Plug the convertor in and in device manager ensure it's set to com port 1.

Yea, I done that and still no luck could it be because of the COM to USB convertor?

I have used a USB to RS232 converter with Carsoft successfully.

Sorry to go over the basics, but you have got the ignition turned to stage 2?

Its no bother, best way to solve the problem to be honest
And yea, I had ignition at position 2. But do I connect the cables up first, then turn on the software and then turn the ignition key to position 2?

Just to keep this up to date, have spoken to the op about this and we have come to the conclusion that the leads are for Pasoft BMW scanner.
