Yea, you need to tell the app the weight of the car, and it will measure the acceleration.
Force = mass x acceleration and it'll then skew the figures about a bit to give a power reading.
It would technically be measuring wheel horsepower, so traction control and grip can lower it, and torque limiters in lower gears can hold back the power too.
