My drivers side xenon is acting up latley, fires up but after a minute or so it flickers and goes out. (not Bi-Xenons)

Ive replaced the bulb but its not making any difference.

Is it easy to get these parts out of the headlight unit?

Im not sure what part is causing the problem - Im going to try taking the headlamp apart at the weekend to see if its possible to get at these parts, I remember before on my e46 M3 it wasnt possible to remove the control unit (N/S) without breaking it out, in the end I had to het a new headlamp!

Is this the same on the E60? (2005)

yeah im thinking its the ballast, is it easy to get at these in the E60? I presume they are in the headlight unit? The E46 one was outside the headlamp and the other was inside the lamp and next to impossible to remove !

I'm having this problem on my E60 thats had a full M5 conv, I have had a play to see if its a loos conection and i've swapted the ballast for a new one, still not working. I can smell, what seems to be a gas leak when I take the back cover off. Do I just need a new bulb? Can i fit it my self and how do I find out what bulb i need. i.e 6000k or 8000k I dont know whats in the one working.
