You can use the ECU pin out to "bell" the wires at the x20 plug, thus working out what goes where.

I think there has been some good useful information posted on here, for you.

Anyway, if its of no use, crack on alone my friend.

    Sorry guys, I didn't think.

I've 'belled' them all so I know the function of each pin of the x20 connector.

I'll post my findings when I get time.

    Thanks guys

I have the Compact pin out if still required, would need to know your ECU though, is it Motronic 1.7.2 or 1.7.3?

Neither, mine's a Bosch, DME 1 430 940 if that means anything to you...

The x20's seem to match fine.

The only problem being the lack of water temp pins in 11 and 12 on the car side of the x20. So the temperature gauge isn't getting anything - turn the key to ignition and it flys round past the red.

With the old M43 I 'believe' the temperature sensor reading went via the ECU. But it doesn't seem to go through the x20... so how does it make it to the instrument cluster?

I wonder what pin 14 is on the car side of the x20?

TEFAL, it'd be good if you could find some pin outs for my compact but as I say, it's a Bosch.

    Thanks

    Bosch is the Manufacturer,
    Motronic is the "model"
1.7.2 or 1.7.3 is the operating system.

post the last 7 digits of your chassis number for the compact if you don't know the system, it may help

it should say somewhere on your ECU, Motronic or Siemens.
The data posted by Tefal is exactly what you need..

I saw that on Real OEM.
Not much use as a description goes

The OP will have to inspect it and or post some pictures of the ECU itself and the labels on it

BMS 46 sounds right, it's the operating system for the m43 TU(technical update) engine
