hi all have just installed a new cd player in my e36 as it didnt have one when i bought it. i overcame the crappy reception drama by putting 12v to the narrow white wire but there are 3 other narrow wires there, white with various stripes. Can anyone tell me what they are for?

    thanks

Bit more info would help mate. Do they have power going to them? Can you test them? Pics or a decent description of the wires would help.

ok stupid i know, the kids have lost my camera and my mobile batt. is flat.so basically i fitted this new stereo, the old one had been robbed by the look of things as the coax had been cut and i couldnt find it so i pulled the computer out and behind that was the loom that i was after. New wires and an iso connector was there so i pulled it all up through the dashboard so i could fit the new cd player. All the major wiring is used/connected, all speakers work but i was left with 4 very narrow wires, all white, 3 of them with a stripe, i now know that the plain white one is used for the power antenna in the rear window but i dont know what the other 3 do.
does this make it any clearer than mud

This might help...http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k2...ingdiagram.gif. The ones without labels are probably not used.

But that says 12V switched ...so it should be 12V when ignition is on...right?

the white one i just joined with the remote wire coming from the iso connector so yeah it only works when the key is in at least position 1. to be honest the iso connector had a spare live feed that had just been taped up and wasnt in use so it was natural to use it.
